I’ve been having a problem with my internet connection from the last few days. I’m frequently observing that there is an internet connection break down for few minutes and then connection resumes automatically. This in-consistence cycle repeats itself from past few days.
I’ve checked router connection and i found that there was no issue with the router. I’ve even verified network configuration settings. As I understood that, it is more likely an ISP issue as modem, router and network connections are working perfect. I also verified that my net cable is connected to the modem.
So, I called my ISP and explained the issue.
After a While the ISP resolves my net connection issue. So, I’ve started continuously monitor the Internet connection to check whether issue resolved or not. I’ve not used any utility or software for monitoring my internet connection as i have used ping command to monitor downtime. I’ve followed below steps to monitor connection.
Just follow below steps to monitor your internet connection.
- Click on start menu
- type cmd to open command prompt.
- Type “ping -t 22.214.171.124” without the quotes and press enter to run the command.
- Here, “-t” means, the ping command will run forever unless stopped manually by hitting Ctrl + C.
- (126.96.36.199 is Google’s DNS Server) or else you can also choose any other active server.
If you find “reply from 188.8.131.52” then it means machine is online. Please find below is the screen short for elaboration
If you find ” request timed out”, then it means that internet connection is down.
Therefore, by using above steps you can monitor your internet connection without need of any special utility.
